My creative medium of choice has always been paper. This week I have been making these little seed packets. I will reveal a little later what I am going to do with them... but it involves jars, cheesecloth and rubber bands. The seed packets were made from the pages of a beautiful old book with botanical drawings that my mother was throwing away. I will put the seeds in little zip lock bags inside.
I know, I know, for some people the idea of cutting up a book is just sacraligeous and I did struggle, as I have a great love for books, but it was just not going to be used anymore and this way the beautiful drawings get to be seen in some form. I have been using it for cards also with a bit of sewing over the images.
I am having problems flipping the photo. if you put your head on your left shoulder you'll be able to almost see it the right way around.
Check out Kirsty's blog to see lots of amazing creativeness.

pretty! looking forward to seeing what you come up with xx
I would also struggle with the initial cutting up of books, but I am so glad to see it used in a creative and respectful way. They look lovely, I’ll have to pop back to see the finished product.
I really love the card!! It's a great idea sewing the paper onto the card. My sister and I were talking about something a little similar the other day.
they look great Emma!!
I love sewing on cards aswell, so much fun & very unique.

Between you, me and the gatepost, I 'purchased' my sewing machine with Visa card 'award' points for the sole purpose of sewing on paper. You should hear the GASP! HORROR! when I fess up to crafty bloggy types that I can't even alter the stitch length on my machine.
If you are going to do evil things to a book, then I gotta say that those seed packets are the most gorgeous evil.
Love the seed packets! I've cut up books before. I did it the other week and cut out pictures from old resource books and sewed the pictures all together to form a sort of bunting for the kids rooms, very easy decoration. The sewing on the cards looks great.
I would have a hard time deciding to cut up a book, but the results are so pretty, it was definitely worth it :)
Gorgeous. I absolutely love botanical paintings, especially old ones. I would have struggled with cutting up the book but yes, sometimes it's better to use the pages for something which can be appreciated everyday. Love your ideas for the seed packets.
